“Study to show yourself approved by God, a workman who need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” – 2 Timothy 2:15 MEV

Screen Shot 2015-07-30 at 11.32.22 AMGood writers are life-long learners who pursue the craft of Screen Shot 2015-07-30 at 11.33.13 AMwriting on a daily basis. If they want to excel, they know they have to constantly hone their skills. That’s a given, but what some writers miss is that they also need to study their readership, their market, and the world about them in the light of how they can be consistently relevant and effective. For us, that also includes being effective in our goal to present Christ and His gospel to the world.

In order to do all that, good writers seek up-to-date, well-informed resources. The MCWG has been dedicated to relevant instruction for more than 60 years.  Here is what we offer you to help you flourish as a good writer:

Speakers

The MCWG board devotes a lot of prayer and time to the selection of monthly speakers. It’s truly a labor of love, though, because we believe that every meeting is important for our members, and we want them to thrive as writers. So we ask God to help us select and invite speakers that will be just what our members need when they need it.

Toward that end, we have arranged an outstanding group of speakers for 2015-2016. To learn more, go to the Meetings page. Speakers

Seminars

Seminars and conferences are great events for skill development, inspiration, and networking.

Over the years, we have brought in some of the best educators in the business, and we continue to do so, as evidenced by our choice of seminar instructor this season at our April, 2016, seminar and meeting. We are excited to announce that Jeff Gerke, a highly-respected writer and speaker, will be here on Saturday, April 9th for the seminar as well as on Monday, April 11th for our April meeting.

Networking with Editors and Publishers

At our May meeting, we will host a panel of local publishers that will address current trends and opportunities. After that, they will also be available to speak to members individually as they display their various services at their own tables.

Additionally, we hope to offer occasional group Facetime with editors and publishers at monthly meetings. As we move forward into the bright future, we will take advantage of technology to serve our members with as many opportunities as possible.
